Chromebit – a Chrome OS stick from ASUS

ASUS and Google announced the ASUS Chromebit at the Google Chrome launch event in San Francisco. ASUS Chromebit is the first in a new category of Chrome OS devices which is a full computing device in a USB flash drive form factor.

Google’s Chrome Operating System is already running on hybrids, laptops, Chrome boxes and small desktop pcs. Now, ASUS has put the Chrome Operating System in the stick form factor.

Chromebit connects to monitor or television via HDMI. Other connectivity options are WiFI 802.11ac and Blutetooth 4.0. In the other hardware specifications are16GB SSD storage and 2GB RAM memory with full size USB 2.0 port for connecting other accessories. All the above powered by Rockchip 3288 processor. There is a Micro USB port to get the DC power from the Television or monitor.

The ASUS Chromebit priced below $100 and it will be available in this summer.
